Celebration of the Arts!!!
Who is that?
We learned a way of drawing called "semi blind contour." When you draw this way, your hand can only move when you are looking at your mirror or what you are drawing. When you look at your paper your hand must stop moving. You never lift your pencil, so that the whole drawing is one, continuous, line. This way of drawing trains eyes and hands to work together. It takes a long time before you can draw this way well. We gave it a shot and did our self portraits. We then filled in the funny shapes with different colored tissue papers. Enjoy the results!
Mrs. Maisel came and helped us create some Op Art in the style of Sonia Delaunay. This is one of her paintings called Electric Prisms, and here are ours! Enjoy! You can click to enlarge them...
OODLES OF DOODLES!
Sixth Graders made a stream of consciousness drawing. They doodled what came to mind first and then the next thought, and the next and the next! When they filled the page, they colored in parts of what they drew. Then we made a viewfinder to help us narrow down one small part to enlarge into an abstracted image. Once we enlarged the small piece, we painted it and mounted them together. We finished by giving it a creative title. Please enjoy our slideshow!
